Turnaround Program Overview

Program Description:

The Turnaround program is a one year mentoring program sponsored by the UCSF Center For Gender Equity for employees up to, and including, the Administrative Assistant II classification who have worked at UCSF for a minimum of one year. The application process begins in September 2007. The mentorship cycle will begin in January 2008 and run until December 2008.

This program will provide participants with an opportunity to invest in their personal and professional development by engaging in a mentoring relationship with a UCSF employee who is in an AAIII or above. Within this relationship, Mentors and Mentees will explore the participant's career path and discuss the knowledge, skills and other important resources that could help the Mentee successfully navigate this path.

How It Works:

  The Program:

• Monthly Mentor/Mentee Meetings
• Mentor & Mentees commit to meeting at least monthly in person and periodically by phone and email. Objective is to address the goals that the Mentree has identified in their Program Contract.
• Mentee Peer Networking & Training Sessions
• Monthly skill building workshops facilitated by campus experts.
• One joint training session with Mentors, Mentees and Supervisors
• Quarterly Mentor Meetings
• Mentors meet as a peer group to discuss their experiences and share resources and insight.
• Evaluations : A mid-point evaluation and one final program evaluation are completed by participants to provide feedback to Program Director.
• Graduation : At completion of program in December 2008, Mentors and Mentees celebrate in an elegant Graduation ceremony.
